With a degree in Fine Arts, João Salazar has been developing his signature artistic style across various techniques and media, specializing in drawing and painting. Recently, he has focused on exploring the plastic, ludic, and pictorial aspects of modeling paste. The quotes and reflections on the online universe and mass culture present in his work were accentuated during the height of quarantine and its consequential social isolation when the usual, mundane, daily urban issues became less relevant. The absence of human contact created a need for João to work with an extremely tactile medium, such as modeling paste. He explored this process to the extent that elements of the metaverse became subjects in his physical world through his most recent paintings.
