Brendan is also a well-known real-world art and digital NFT art collector. His contributions to the NFT space have developed into a growing community of Global Artists actively building a new internet known as Web 3.0. The Blockchain is what Brendan believes to be the answer to global equality, where Decentralized Art & Design will become the international language to build a new economy for all to co-exist and prosper equally.

Personal connection: How does this “Digital Nostalgia” exhibition resonate with your experiences and feelings?

Web and computing moments from our past, or “digital nostalgia,” have become an irrefutable go-to for happiness, comfort, and value in the modern web3 digital landscape. This sense of nostalgia stems from growing up in a very digitally inspired world during the .com era when the web was just beginning to develop. It was something of awe, inspiring, and most of all, during my childhood when life was simple & carefree. Digital Nostalgia is a place I like to revisit to reconnect with my early self amidst a modern & more complex life.

Visualization Idea:As ACCA Guest Curator, what is your original idea for Digital Nostalgia reflected in the design of the digital gallery?

Digital Nostalgia was derived from a traditional concept of a Roman Forum. For this Gallery, the plan is ovular in shape, surrounded by a contiguous arcade that frames each Artwork exhibited through each of the Arches. One can stand in the center plaza, rotate, and understand the entire collection & exhibition. For the metaverse, this is an excellent working concept for public and private collections to celebrate a particular category of Art one is exhibiting or has collected. The center plaza of this Gallery allows Artists & Collectors to interact and discuss the Art Exhibited as well as interact with other avatars & collectors with a vantage point of the entire collection. The concept has received great feedback, it really works quite well, and I believe this will become a standard for many metaversal galleries in the future.

How does the design enhance the audience’s engagement with the nostalgic theme?

I think the design of this Gallery has a great juxtaposition for a Metaversal Web3 Art Gallery, with an Architectural concept from the past that engages a similar feeling of ‘new, but old’ that resonates with the theme ‘Digital Nostalgia.’ In the digital world, we have to feel something different and ensure that what we are building and designing in the web3 movement is not just fancy and new, but it must resonate with a deeper connection to users.

Architectural Influence:With your background as a master of architecture, how does your expertise in physical space influence your artistic approach to digital spaces? Can you identify similarities and differences between your architectural work in the physical realm and your creative work in the digital realm?

The focus in my work, whether physical or digital, is that it must deliver feeling & emotion in order to be a successful design. Whether physical or digital, it must have a soul that one can feel and understand when physically or digitally inhabited.

Evoking Nostalgia:How did the concept of “Digital Nostalgia” inspire the curation of artworks for this auction?

The Artists I’ve curated for this exhibition have a great background working with different software and techniques that deliver a nostalgic feel of the early computing era. The Artists I’ve curated specialize in Pixel Art, each in their very own unique way, and each delivers a style that is inimitable.

Connecting Eras: How do the selected artworks bridge the gap between the past web and computing moments and today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape?

The idea of ​​these pieces being featured in the Web3 gallery, the most modern technological movement of the moment, combined with the aesthetics of the early computer era, is a pure parallel to connect the dots between the old and the new.

The Artists I’ve chosen to participate in each have a style that is like a trademark, but each uses a very similar element in their works ‘pixels.’

What will the digital future bring to our society?

The digital future will bring with it a global language, a global currency, and a platform whose voices will be heard worldwide.
