'DO NOT DISTURB, please

“Consider this your formal invitation to existential discomfort—with a wink.” — Prokofiev, Curator

The "DO NOT DISTURB" sign whispers a plea for stillness—but what if true clarity begins with disturbance? In this mischievously defiant exhibition, the “NOT” is deliberately struck through, flipping passivity into provocation. Art here doesn’t whisper; it buzzes, groans, and occasionally screams.

Curated by Prokofiev, this auction gathers works that challenge perception and invite chaos as a vehicle for self-interrogation. Drawing on the disruptive lineage of Greek tragedy, Dada irony, and digital absurdism, the exhibition becomes a study in what theorist Jack Mezirow called “disorienting dilemmas”—those surreal, destabilizing moments that force us to wake up and rethink.

Concept & Themes

This is art as rupture. As an alarm clock. As a glitch in the feed. These works don’t ask for your passive gaze—they confront you, dare you to squirm, reflect, or even revolt. From absurdity to horror, surrealism to the grotesque, each piece acts as a pressure point on cultural and cognitive norms.

In the tradition of artists like Louise Bourgeois who said, “Art is a guarantee of sanity”—this show asks whether that sanity sometimes requires a little madness.
