What type of blockchain infrastructure we have after the NFT hype “cyclone”?

These are by no means the remnants of the Roman Empire; instead, there exists a substantial number of swiftly constructed blocks over the past two years, forming blockchain layers closely tied to the digital assets within the web3 ecosystem.

In its initial phase, NFT marketplaces aimed to encompass the entire spectrum of the NFT market, spanning collectibles, digital art, real estate, and digital fashion similar to the eBay or Amazon platforms. Some platforms emphasized exclusivity by establishing NFT membership barriers or manually extending invitations, ensuring privacy and a sense of exclusiveness for artists.

A fresh route to market strategy emerges through decentralized communities, introducing a distinctive form of personalization known as PFP (profile pictures). Collateral NFTs find their place within the DEFI ecosystem, while physical art undergoes fractalization. Investment funds with a collective investment to the art are gradually reshaiped to decentralized DAOs.

Presently, numerous NFT marketplaces operate on Ethereum, Tezos, and the Bitcoin blockchain. These platforms are actively considering transaction costs, artist's royalty enforcement (albeit not universally), and addressing concerns about energy consumption.

The emergence of NFT innovations is also sparking the creation of novel digital art genres and the rise of underground artists. One particularly captivating genre, generative art, has swiftly gained recognition from museums despite its recent inception.

However, this is the time to reveal the last mile frictions for the future blockchain art market development. And one of them is the cross-chain and multi-chain NFTs interoperability.

Consider a scenario where I must relocate my physical artwork from a gallery in Europe to another in the USA. While this process is intricate and entails expenses, it remains a feasible endeavor. I am required to arrange transportation, handle customs declarations, and secure insurance. Nevertheless, I have the capability to transport my physical artwork across the globe.

In the context of NFT, interoperability includes the ability to use or transfer NFT across various blockchain networks and NFT marketplaces. As artists or collectors, we cannot transfer assets through a specific art platform, even on the Ethereum network. NFT interoperability across multiple chains is ruled out, unresolved issue.

Let's take a look at platforms that do not support interoperability:

Let's explore the advantages arising from the interoperability of NFTs across various platforms and chains.

Interoperability

Expanded Market Reach: This enables creators and collectors to access a broader audience and a larger marketplace, potentially increasing the visibility and value of their NFTs.

Asset Portability: NFT owners can move their digital assets seamlessly across various platforms, giving them more control and flexibility over their collections. This portability can prevent lock-in to a single platform and empowers users to make the most of their NFT holdings.

Cross-Platform Engagement: Artists, creators, and collectors can engage with multiple NFT communities and ecosystems without the need to create separate NFTs for each platform. This fosters cross-platform collaboration and interaction, leading to a richer and more diverse NFT landscape.

Price and Liquidity: Interoperability can lead to a more efficient price discovery process, as NFTs from different platforms can be compared and traded on a wider scale. This helps establish fairer market values and can contribute to increased liquidity in the NFT market.

Interconnected Metaverse gallery: NFT interoperability can contribute to the development of an interconnected metaverse where virtual worlds, games, applications, and platforms seamlessly share assets. Users can carry their NFT possessions across various metaverse environments, enhancing their immersive experiences.

User Empowerment: NFT interoperability aligns with the principles of decentralization and user empowerment that underlie blockchain technology. Users have more control over their NFT assets and can freely choose how and where to engage with the NFT ecosystem.

I would like to emphasize my perspective that blockchain technology, in due time, will inevitably bring about a complete NFT interoperability across diverse platforms, fundamentally reshaping the traditional art market into a realm characterized by transparency, immutability, authenticity, streamlined provenance tracking, and worldwide reach.
